The Old Town

Warsaw Royal Castle Take “The Old Town” trip and see the most interesting part of Warsaw!
Our guide will lead you along the romantic cobbled streets with horse-drawn carriages, charming boutiques, and quaint cafés. The first stop is at The Column of King Zygmunt III Waza, which is here to memorize the king, who transferred the capital of Poland from Krakow to Warsaw at the end of XVIth century. Then you have a chance to visit part of The Royal Castle.
It was built in the 14th century as a wooden fortress for the Dukes of Mazovia. After the capital was moved to Warsaw the castle remained the seat of the monarchy and the Polish parliament for almost 250 years. After 1918 the castle became the official residence of the Polish president but was completely destroyed by the Nazis during World War II. It is fully reconstructed.
Warsaw Barbacan
Go in to see the neo-baroque interiors i.e.: Throne Room, King’s Apartment, Canaletto Room. Later our guide will take you to The Archicathedral Basilica of St. John, one of the oldest churches in Warsaw. Then you will see the Market Square where the Mermaid Statue is placed. Why is it the symbol of Warsaw? Our guide will tell you the legend. Walk around the square and enjoy all the beautiful buildings surrounding the area. One would never guess that the market square in Old Town Warsaw is a complete reconstruction after II World War. Our guide will show you also city walls and the Barbican, which guarded the northern entrance to Warsaw in medieval time.
