If you are visiting Warsaw for the first time, you will be surprised how much the city has to offer and how many places there are to see and things to do. Warsaw was built on the banks of the Vistula River. Since the late XVIth century it is the capital of Poland. Warsaw is extraordinary city as the West and East Europe culture cross here. The historic buildings, palaces, churches and architectural complexes were destroyed during the II World War.
Only around 15% of buildings remained standing but Polish people from all the country picked themselves up and rebuilt almost everything.
Then for over 40 years the country was ruled by communists but Warsaw is not the cold and dead city any more. Many old communist buildings gave way to modern sky
scrapers and dilapidating old town was restored.
It is by far the biggest and the fastest developing Polish city. In Warsaw you can’t be bored, there are so many attractions: castles, palaces, museums, parks, shopping centers. The Historic Centre of Warsaw was put by UNESCO on the World Heritage List.
We prepared a few programs for you, depending what you are interested in. If you plan to stay a few days you might be interested in trip outside the city as well.
